    1. The "petrodollar" buys huge influence. The "petrodollar" is much more than just the income the Middle Eastern OPEC countries receive from selling their oil (Google it). The US and OPEC are thus strange bedfellows through necessity.

Thank you Mark for caring enough to carefully study these matters and for explaining the ramifications of this law in such a clear, concise and well thought out manner. Thank you for answering the promptings of the Holy Spirit. God bless you. Keep the Faith and rest assured that I will do my best to spread the word. One of countless concerned Roman Catholics.

  4. I live in the England and we now have areas in our towns and cities that have been colonised by Muslims.

There are 6 Sharia Councils in my country whose rulings under the Arbitration Act are law. This means that women are treated as second class citizens with the full sanction of the authorities.

Sharia may be successful for men but not for women.

We have fought for generations for the rights of all citizens and now we are allowing a culture drieven by none enlightenment values to trump the the law.

Where are all the feminists when we need them??

I worry about the future of my country.

  5. Those countries infected by the sickness called sharia are all places that are way down the livability index. The reason they are not places anyone from Australia would want to live in, is at least partially due to Islam and Sharia.

And I suspect these two reasons are causal not just correlated to the relative backwardness of Islamic countries. Its ironic that the biggest thing holding Islamic countries back is Islam.

  6. There is NO place for sharia law in Australia. Muslims in Australia need to change their thinking. If they choose to live in a western country they should live according to western law and values. Also, Islam around the world needs start allowing freedom of religion, including the freedom for Muslims to leave the religion without punishment from the state or other Muslims.

Is it true that the Archbishop of Canterbury has endorsed religious pluralism through accommodations sharia law? Is that the current archbishop? Because if this is true, then I have to protest and then, likely, change churches. Does anyone know? summon heather@yahoo.ca

  8. Yes, it is the current Archbishop. But he has announced that he is retiring.

  9. At the moment we see the benign face of Islam. Once their numbers grow, the demands will become more strident, the threats more palpable. Sharia law must be banned in all Western countries. We are living in crazy times when prominent Western people advocate implementation of discriminatory Sharia laws.

  10. One can only assume that some Western politicians are either incompetent or worse (in the most pejorative sense possible) to allow obviously discriminatory laws to be applied to a section of the community when other groups enjoy fairer, equitable treatment for all regardless of beliefs or gender.
