Violence and Context in Islamic Texts

  1. The mere fact that Abdalla is arguing the circumstances under which the religion of Islam is to incriminate people, describes their innocence, declares war, or permits the killing of people, is quite troubling, and in fact, threatening to the Sovereignty of the Australian state, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In Australia (unlike in religious Islamic states), legislating crimes, description of innocence of people, and the declaration of offensive and defensive wars, are not withdrawn from religious conventions, but are the duty of the state which is made of societies of citizens of all different religions and beliefs who are all loyal to the land they live in. In Australia, Self defence is an act to prevent a criminal or unlawful harm to a person or a property, and not to prevent someone from expressing their disagreement with your religion or belief.
One Australian Muslim citizen cannot incriminate another and cannot declare their innocence; needless to say, cannot permit their killing for self defence against another who opposes their religion.
Thanks Mark for yet another eye opener! Blessings!

  2. Well, an outstanding scholarly and empirical dismantling of Screaming Abdallah's claims by the great Dr Mark Durie, as per usual. Seeing how Honest Ab is allegedly a scholar of Islam an' all, there are only three logically possible reasons for his laughable errors: he is either incredibly and grossly incompetent, a blatant liar or both.

I happy with any combination he admits to. No, really. Colonel Neville.

  3. Mark Durie,
you missed another reply to Sheehan's article by the BDS advocate Randa Al-Fattah in the SMH:
    http://www.smh.com.au/comment/free-speech-used-to-mobilise-hatred-of-muslims-20130527-2n6um.html

A feeble attempt to "shame" Sheehan by accusing him of "mobilising" "hatred" against Muslims, by one who every day mobilises hatred against Jews and Israel. It fails dismally, but thought you'd like to see it.

    1. Thanks J.

Somewhere along the way I did read that piece by Randa Al-Fattah. She is no more intellectually credible than Ass. Prof. Abdalla. I decided to focus on Abdalla because he holds a senior academic position and ought to understand Islam.
